Welcome to the Career Center of Southern Illinois!
The mission of the Career Center of Southern Illinois is to provide integrated and relevant career and technical education, as well as employability and academic skills for junior and senior students from area high schools, for adults from surrounding communities, and for “at risk” students. We believe that learning must take place in a nurturing, safe environment that recognizes the diversity of individuals while promoting equity for all.
8th Grade Career Day
Sept. 27, 2013
Eighth grade students from St. Clair, Monroe
and Randolph Counties participated in the Career Day sponsored by the Okaw
Regional Vocational System.
Teachers from CCSI led students in
interactive lessons in Welding, Auto Mechanics, Auto Body Repair, Heating and
Air Conditioning, Child Care, Web Design/Gaming, Health Occupations and Law
Enforcement. Representatives from SWIC
led students in Career Exploration activities, and speakers from the Marketing,
Agriculture, Engineering and Culinary Arts fields also provided activities for
All totaled over 500 students from Chester,
Evansville, PEP, Prairie du Rocher, Sparta, Valmeyer, Marissa, New Athens, Red
Bud, Steeleville and Freeburg participated with teacher chaperones.
